Concrete Walkway & Trash Pad in Brighton, CO

Broom Finish Concrete Walkway & Trash Pad in Brighton, CO

Pristine Concrete Denver recently completed a new broom finish concrete walkway and trash pad in Brighton, Colorado. This project gave the homeowner a clean, durable pathway along the side of the home while also creating a dedicated concrete pad for their trash bins.

Beyond the finished appearance, this project included important preparation and drainage work designed to create a long-lasting installation.

New Concrete Walkway Installation

The new walkway extends along the side of the home, creating a solid and convenient path between the front and backyard areas.

We finished the concrete with a traditional broom finish, which provides a clean appearance along with added surface texture and traction. Properly placed control joints were incorporated throughout the walkway to help manage normal concrete shrinkage and movement.

Road Base & Rebar Reinforcement

Proper preparation underneath concrete is one of the most important parts of a quality installation.

Before pouring, our crew excavated and prepared the area, installed and compacted road base, set the forms, and added steel rebar reinforcement throughout the new concrete.

The reinforced base helps provide additional support for the slab and is particularly important in Colorado, where changing temperatures, freeze-thaw cycles, and soil movement can put additional stress on exterior concrete.

Two Trenched Downspout Drains

Drainage was another important part of this Brighton concrete project.

The home had downspouts located alongside the new walkway area. Instead of allowing roof runoff to discharge directly onto or alongside the new concrete, we incorporated two trenched downspout drain lines into the project.

The downspouts were connected to underground drainage lines and routed beneath/along the new walkway area to help carry roof water away from the immediate foundation and concrete.

This allows the homeowner to maintain a clean walkway while providing a more intentional solution for managing roof runoff.

Custom Concrete Trash Pad

In addition to the walkway, we poured a concrete trash pad near the side gate.

The widened pad provides a stable, level location for trash and recycling bins instead of keeping them on dirt, mulch, or loose landscaping material. It also integrates directly with the new walkway, making it easier to move the bins between the backyard and front of the property.

A Functional Upgrade for This Brighton Home

Not every concrete project needs to be a large driveway or decorative patio. A properly built side-yard walkway can make a significant difference in how a homeowner uses their property.

This Brighton project combined several improvements into one installation: a new broom finish walkway, dedicated trash pad, compacted road base, steel rebar reinforcement, control joints, and underground drainage for two downspouts.

The finished result provides a clean, durable pathway that complements the home while improving everyday accessibility and drainage.
